First Campaign of the Magincian Crusade

Isle of Magincia

This just in from Galen Knighthawke of The Legacy of the Fallen:

The demon lord IxaKaz is known by at least two other names. One is Ben-Tas Jux-Lem, the other is merely V.

Regardless of what we call him, his forces have taken possession of Magincia Island. His armies include the Bane Chosen, Bane Dragons from the Abyss, and a horde of demons. They seek to prevent us and our young lioness queen from rebuilding. And we know that their evil ambitions won't stop at Magincia.

They have already taken our lioness's husband prisoner. Soon they will seek to initiate some of us fully into their order. No one is safe.

Sadly, I feel that the time to defeat the vile forces of V has not yet come. But this doesn't mean we can allow them to again tarnish the jewel of the oceans, Magincia, unpunished.

Even if we can't dislodge them yet, they must hurt. They must be bled, as they have bled us, as they have bled Magincia. Some of us have fought for the city individually, or as small groups. This is commendable, and it should continue, but it is not enough.

This Saturday (October 30) at 7pm Central Time, I will be leading the First Campaign of the Magincian Crusade. The campaign will gather at the Nameless Rune Library south of the Yew Moongate in Trammel. The coordinates of the banner are 70-35 North, 40-25 West.

We will follow a simple battle plan which I will outline on the night of the campaign. I do not expect that we will be able to dislodge V's forces, not on this first campaign. But we will, for about 30 to 60 minutes depending upon conditions, simply kill as many of them as we can.

The Divine willing, other Campaigns will follow, and the Magincian Crusade will continue until we win, or we all die.

Ancient texts tell us the following of V and his evil forces: “Pride attracts them, ruin encourages them.”

There can never truly be ruin as long as we fight.

 Join the Crusade!

The Banshee and the Banners, Part II

Originally posted October 25th, 2010 by EM Elizabella on the Great Lakes EM Site:

LichI have outlived my siblings by centuries, but this past year feared I was finally slipping into senility. I couldn’t remember songs and stories I’d known for ages. Many of the voices that shaped my thoughts had gone silent. I despaired.

Then I heard a new voice. It had the warmth of a violin and the majesty of a harp. It was softly singing a lullaby. I followed it and saw a banshee! They’re usually tied to the ancestral home of the family they serve. She was cradling one of the souls that form my mind. I realized with horror that I couldn’t sense that piece of my personality anymore.

She looked up and the lullaby turned into a keening wail. It sounded like my name.

I was frozen with fear. By the time I could move, the banshee had escaped, taking that fragment of my mind with her.

I have outlived my siblings by centuries, but with the knowledge that their souls are enslaved to a Mzil’rothe’sharen Phindar.

Our vast extended family lived together in Schreckenghast Castle. I grew up with a swarm of sisters, brothers, and cousins, each and every one of them as dumb as a rock.

I was always fascinated by death, by the energy gently released at the moment of transformation. I attended every natural death that occurred in our county, from the time I was old enough to toddle down to the village.

It was obvious that Schreckenghast souls did not float away as those of the villagers did. I soon realized we were being trapped like animals. Nobody listened, of course.

I ran away the night before the Mzil’rothe’sharen Phindar destroyed the rest of my family. How could anyone not sense the monster’s growing frustration and greed? I used the necromantic arts to shield myself from the attention of the lich and, eventually, from death itself.

Princess Mirendel’s can now eat some new foods. Also, she’s learned more words, including her own name and the three principles. She loves to play peek-a-boo.

Sherry the Mouse has given Mirendel toddler versions of Britannia’s two most popular children’s books. The princess likes to be read to, though I wouldn’t actually hand her the book…

Princess Mirendel can be found in her playpen behind Castle British.

OOC: Here’s the text (if you’d like to cut-and-paste to read to her) and UOWedding scripts of the two books. Also, oracles can respond to emotes if you type the asterisks (”*”), but not if you emote using the colon (”:”).

Abram was startled from his sleep as the words appeared in his mind. The old sailor, shielding the gaze of his one eye as he fixed it upon his younger shipmate, struggled
a moment to realize what was said.

"A mast?" Adrenaline now coursed through Abram's veins. The two seaborne scavengers had left port in Nujel'm almost a week ago. Adrift in the Britannian sea onboard an unsuitable scow, the thought of ending this job was almost too much for him. They had managed to deal for the last known location of a derelict, the Cirein, the lone survivor of which having died just days before. Under Britannian maritime law, this makes the cargo of the lost ship very valuable to the first crew that claims her.

A letter to the King of Akalabeth, recovered from the Lyceum archive, author unknown

Estimated date of writing: 30 years pre-Britannia

To my liege and King, Your Majesty, with my revered obedience,

It is with great ire and revulsion that I cogitate upon the actions of Fawn's merchant navy, and great fear toward what yet may come as consequence. This, of course, being of no fault of His Majesty the King, but of my own abhorrence for the grievous brutality exhibited by these maritime merchants several years ago. Witnessing the fate of Mr. Nelson shall forever haunt me.

GL High Council

From Councilor Beauvina of the City of Jhelom:

Are you the best archer in the lands? Do you want to help Britannia, preserve the Virtues and make lifelong bovine buddies? If so, Lady Beauvina, Councilor of Jhelom on the High Council, is looking for you as an expert marksman!

Given the state of events currently across Sosaria, Councilor Beauvina has decided to put together a group of archers... problem is, cows don't know how to shoot bows very well! She is looking for the best archer out there, someone who can prove their worth to teach Jhelom's cows to be the fighting force they need to be against evil folk like the Bane Chosen. What better way than to hold an archery tournament?

The City of JhelomThe event will be held this Friday, October 15th at 8pm under central skies. It will be held at the Jollier Fairgrounds near Skara Brae by the archery buttes. Merely show up, wait your turn and tally up 10 shots. Highest total points will be the winner! First place will win 1 million gold, Second place will be awarded 500,000 gold and Third place will take home 250,000 gold. In addition, the winner will have bragging rights as the first cow teacher of archery skills... and how great is that?

The High Council hopes to see you there!

LichHe is the last of his accursed kind. A sort of lich even other liches flee from. The gargoyles call them Korpanexvoltaslem, the elves call them Mzil’rothe’sharen Phindaren, and the humans call them Soul Stealers. All three kill these creatures on sight.

I was the banshee of the Schreckenghast family. I failed them. New to the spirit world myself, I did not realize that sensing and announcing their impending deaths was not enough. I should have been guiding them safely into the afterworld.

The Schreckenghast line disappeared long ago in a horrible blaze. Their castle lies in ruins. All these centuries I have wandered, searching for their souls, determined to fulfill my duty. I’ve finally found the Mzil’rothe’sharen Phindar’s lair. I have as many of the souls as I could carry away. However, I cannot break the magical glass that imprisons them. Here’s an idea though…

Bane Chosen Invade Magincia!

Library of Sosaria

The much-besieged Isle of Magincia once again plays host to an invading force. The Bane Chosen have been discovered consorting with demons, mage lords at the southern end of the island.

Bane Chosen and Daemon Conclave invade Magincia!

Blackrock Golem in MaginciaAt the behest of Lady Silverbrook, the Britannian Armed Forces arrived at the Isle several hours ago and successfully routed the invasion forces. Unfortunately, reinforcements including blackrock golems have since arrived and are attempting to take the Isle once again.

This invasion solidifies the connection between the Bane Chosen and the Daemon Conclave, thus exposing the Bane as enemies of Britannia.

Help repel this latest attempt by the forces of evil to claim Magincia!

A cooling wind had settled over the courtyards and archery buttes.  The matriarch and steward of Britannia unrolled the freshly deliver parchment with unveiled adoration. Breaking the wax seal of farmer’s plowshares, Dawn was careful not to tear the edges.

The sun dimmed behind darkening clouds, and her heart lifted with the contents of the correspondence as well as the promise of rain.

Dawn smiled reading the slow, deliberate hand of her husband’s handwriting.  The letter lifted her spirits as always. She had packed sparingly, knowing her visit back to the shared homestead would be a brief but welcome break.
