Third Magincian Crusade

Submitted by Martyna_Zmuir on November 28, 2010 at 8:00 PM CST
Isle of Magincia

This just in from Galen Knighthawke of The Legacy of the Fallen:

The Third Campaign of the Magincian Crusade will be this Saturday, December 4, at 8pm Central. (We will gather at that time and depart very shortly thereafter.)

This might conflict with the end of the weekly CFC pet fights, but those who are at the pet fights can always jump into the campaign once it's already in progress. In fact, the many combat-ready pets I've seen at the fights will be quite welcome on the Crusade, especially after warming up in the arena.

We will once again cast off from around the Library of Sosaria banner, south of the Yew Moongate in Trammel, at coordinates 70o 35' North, 40o 25' West. Once again, I envision the campaign as a simple affair. Gate in, kill as many of them as possible according to a battle plan I will outline that night, then leave.

For the last two campaigns, the forces of Virtuebane met us with increased defenses. Whether that will happen this time or not, I cannot say, but either way, the armies of Virtuebane will neither leave our shores, nor leave our allies alone, unless they are made to taste their own blood, again, and again, and again. We must make the cost of their actions unacceptable to them.

The Magincian Crusade, I have said since its beginning, will continue until the forces of Virtuebane have been driven back to Hell, or we all die.

I meant it, whether this takes two more campaigns, or twenty, or fifty. Evil does not stop. Nor can we.

When Magincia was first smashed many years ago, some said that the city was being punished for its Pride. Now that it is occupied by forces related to those which destroyed it, some are saying the same thing, that these vile demons are a divine punishment. For Magincia's Pride, or for that of Queen Dawn in daring to attempt to rebuild there, or both.

I disagree.

And, even if you think the Pride of Magincia deserved punishment, it is not for creatures of Sin to punish Sin, and the fate of Magincia is ours to decide, not theirs.

The Magincian Crusade is about the ability to decide our own fate. We punish, and reward, our own. If that is Pride, then I, with Humility, admit to it. And, with Valor, I raise my Leafblade to fight for it.

We are ruled by ourselves, our Queen, her governments, and our Virtues. Not by Virtuebane.

Join the Crusade!!!

The Holly & The Ivy

The Holly and the IvyOriginally posted November 27th, 2010 by EM Elizabella on the Great Lakes EM Site:

In medieval times, there were many songs about strife between holly trees and ivy plants. Holly symbolized men and ivy symbolized women. A song from that time that you may still hear at the holidays is “The Holly and The Ivy”, in which the holly carries the day:

The holly and the ivy
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown

A song in which the ivy wins, “Ivy, Chief of Trees”:

The most worthy is she in town
He who says other, says amiss
Worthy is she to bear the crown
Veni coronaberis

Thursday, Dec. 2nd, at 8 p.m. CST gates will open near the Felucca Brit. and Buc’s Den moongates to a spot in the center of the combat zone. The contest begins immediately. All male characters should try to keep The Holly King alive; all female characters should protect The Ivy Queen. If the king dies first, the female characters all win (no matter which side they actually helped in battle) and vice versa.

Reward: The names of those on the winning team will be inscribed on a festive holiday plaque at Felucca Britain Bank.

HEAR YE!

Mutant, feathered beasts of the Abyss have been sighted throughout the realm! The valleys stir, rabble rousing from their freakish gobblers pierce the night air, emitted from the most foul and alien beaks your eyes have ever seen. A fire, the thirst, it burns in their eyes from the blackest pits of their souls.

So board up your houses, hide your children or grab your swords - Turkey day cometh and we hope you brought your appetite!

A hooded figure robed in crimson emerged from the darkgate and surveyed the room.  There were no sounds in this chamber but the angry roar of the lava sea that roiled outside the red stone windows.  Towering demons stood guard in the room and broke the silence briefly to grunt their recognition.  The figure nodded.

HeThe figure passed from the room and down a dark hall.  There were no windows here, just warm obsidian walls which gave the hall a darkness that even nightsight could not penetrate.  The sound of the lava faded and the mysterious figure could hear nothing but the scraping thud of cloven hooves on stone as demons tended to their duties.

Magincia to co-sponsor Jhelom Boat Race with the Grotto

City of Jhelom

From Lady Silverbrook of the Magincia Endowment for the Arts and Community Affairs:

The Isle of Magincia is co sponsoring, along with Lady Tanda’s Grotto Tavern and the City of Jhelom, a boat race this Saturday, Nov. 13th, at 4pm cst.

It was brought to our attention there are a number of starving, orphan children currently living in Buccaneer’s Den by way of Councilor Beauvina of the High Councilor. Both Lady Tanda and myself have committed to assist in aiding them. To this end, we are having a boat race, the fastest ships are necessary to send food and other items to these children.

MaginciaPlease come to the Jhelom docks, which is the starting point for this race (177o 54′N 11o 36′E, near the Jhelom moongate). There the directions will be given, as well as notification of where a ‘checkpoint’ will be located during the race. The winners will be determined by whom reaches the final destination first. First Place will take home 2 million gold, Second Place 1 million gold, and Third Place 500,000 gold.

All that participate have our gratitude for wishing to help these children and alleviate their current suffering. As always, thank you for your help and interest.

Second Campaign of the Magincian Crusade

Submitted by Martyna_Zmuir on November 8, 2010 at 9:39 PM CST
Isle of Magincia

This just in from Galen Knighthawke of The Legacy of the Fallen:

Pride is among the most interesting of the Sins.

To some, to raise a sword against those who would be the nemesis of Virtue, when raising a sword seems hopeless and victory is far from certain, alone constitutes Pride.

I disagree. Defiance in the face of insurmountable odds is no Sin when it is in the defense of Virtue, and Humility is no Virtue when it leads us to not take up arms against Sin.

The second campaign of the Magincian Crusade will be this Friday, at 9pm Eastern. We will once again cast off from around the Library of Sosaria, south of the Yew Moongate in Trammel at coordinates 70-35 North, 40-25 West. Once again, I envision it as a simple affair. Gate in, kill as many of them as possible according to a battle plan I will outline that night, then leave. The forces of the demon lord IxaKaz met us last time; whether they will meet us again I cannot guess.

The time has not yet come, I am afraid, to drive the enemy into the sea. I can only pray that day will come. And the sooner it comes, the better.

But until then we need to keep making them taste their own blood, as much of it as possible.

The fate of Magincia is ours to decide, not theirs.

The Magincian Crusade will continue until we all die, or I die and no one takes up my sword, or until we drive them into the sea, back into the Hell they came from.

Magincia Library & Museum Short Story Event ‘A Tale of Gratitude’

Submitted by Martyna_Zmuir on November 7, 2010 at 9:21 PM CST
Isle of Nujel'm

From Lady Silverbrook of the Magincia Endowment for the Arts and Community Affairs:

This month’s Magincia Library and Museum event will be short story based.  It will involve relating a tale of gratitude. This could be any experience you have had from your travels in Sosaria, and how it affected you. This is a month where many give thanks for the things in their life, and it is welcomed to share those experiences with others.

All entries should be able to be related to the attendees in under 10 minutes. If possible, please have it prepared in a red leafed book for entry into the contest, though this is not a necessity for this month’s event (though it is preferred for judging purposes). Please be prepared to recite your essay for all attending. Lady Silverbrook and Justicar Fl’Gith will be judging the entries based on creativity, inspiration and keeping in spirit of the theme of the month.

The event will be held Wednesday, November 17th at 8pm under central skies. The first place entry will take home 2 million gold, second place 1.5 million gold, and third place 1 million gold. There will be consolation prizes given, as well, for those attending the event.

As always, we hope to see you at the Magincia Library and Museum in Nujel’m.
