The High Court of Britannia is the Judicial Branch of the High Council of Britannia, and serves both as the insitution that ensures the laws and decrees of the High Council of Britannia do not go against the Royal Constitution of Britannia nor the Higher Tenets of Lord British, as well as the highest court in the Kingdom of Britannia. The High Court serves to ensure that Justice is delivered in the true spirit of the Virtue, and oversees cases brought before it to ensure that Truth is always tempered by Compassion, and that each case is seen not only for the facts before the Court, but also for the actions and reasonings behind each case. As a branch of the High Council, the power of the High Court of Britannia derives directly from the Throne of Britannia, and the High Court of Britannia is entrusted to not only rule on laws and decrees from the High Council, but to hear cases in which accusations of High Crimes such as treason and murder have been committed, and also to hear cases that would normally be tried in local jurisdictions but in which no local authority is presently available. The Charter of the High Court is the operational document of the High Court of Britannia, and defines in greater detail the responsibilities of the members of the High Court. Additionally, the prime definitions of the High Justicar of Virtue and his responsibilities are derived from the Royal Constitution of Britannia of which the High Council of Britannia is the keeper. The High Court of Britannia may declare specific laws, edicts, and decrees as unconstitutional or against the greater laws of Lord British (whose very laws are the foundations of this great Kingdom), and may do so for the protection of the Britannian people. The final role of the High Court of Britannia is to foster teachings of Justice, Compassion, and Truth throughout Britannia in order to bring a greater understanding to Britannia's peoples. The High Court of Britannia is presided over by the High Justicar of Virtue, and convenes in the High Court of Britannia in Compassion Grove upon the Trammel facet (12o 8'N, 35o 38'W).
